FAQ
Product Questions:
MISSION Daily Offense SPF 30
Q. What does SPF mean? What is the difference between SPF 15 and SPF 30? Is it doubleprotection?
A. SPF stands for: Sun protection factor. A scale for rating the level of sunburn protection in sunscreen products. The higher the SPF, the more sunburn protection. An SPF 30 does not provide double the protection. The difference is only in time. To demonstrate this difference, see the information below:
For example, if your skin starts to burn in 10 minutes without any sun protection then a product labeled SPF 15 gives you 15x or 150 minutes of protection. SPF 30 gives you 30x or 300 minutes of protection.
However, the amount of UVB rays that are absorbed is NOT double. It is calculated as follows:
- SPF 15 - allows 1/15 or 6% of the UVB rays to get through to your skin, giving you 94% UVB protection.
- SPF 30 - allows 1/30 or 3% of the UVB rays to get through to your skin, giving you 97% UVB protection
Q. What is UVA? (Aging Radiation)
A. Ultraviolet light, type A. These are rays of light from the sun which are not visible but can cause damage to the skin. UVA rays emitted by the sun are the deepest penetrating UV radiation. UVA rays cause wrinkles and premature aging in the skin. Additionally, the effects of UVA rays are cumulative, and may contribute to DNA damage as well as skin cancer.
Q. What is UVB? (Burning Radiation)
A. Ultraviolet light, Type B; The ultraviolet light frequency that causes burning of the skin. UVB rays emitted by the sun cause sunburns and are responsible for causing skin cancer. UVB rays have shorter wavelengths than UVA rays, and affect the upper layer of the skin. The body produces Melanin to protect skin cells from UVB rays, and overexposure results in sunburn

Q. How often do I need to apply?
A. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before stepping into the sun, allowing its ingredients to absorb into your skin. Apply sunscreen generously; a layer too thin can diminish its effectiveness. Make sure your skin is dry when you apply it. Don't overlook areas on your body surprisingly sensitive to sunlight: neck, cheeks, nose, ears, bald spots, the backs of your calves and the crooks of your knees. Reapply sunscreen as a long day progresses, as often as every two hours if you're sweating heavily. Doctors worry that sunscreens simply encourage people to extend their exposure to the sun without adding any protection later in the day. Realize that sunscreens and sunblocks are not miracle shields that grant you limitless time in the sun.
Q. How do I use the SPF Anti-Sting Sunscreen SPF 30+ Facestick?
A. Carry this convenient PABA free, chemical-free, fragrance-free sunblock stick into your pocket, purse or bag. This easy-to-use Facestick gives the "hot spots" on your face a boost of extra protection and it glides on smoothly for easy application. The MISSION Anti-Sting Sunscreen SPF 30+ Facestick is ideal for use on your face, nose, ears, neck and eyes and can be used anywhere else where skin is exposed. Twist the bottom of the applicator to raise the application level.
Q. Is MISSION Anti-Sting Sunscreen SPF 30+ Facestick all I need to stay safe?
A. No. While we believe that MISSION Anti-Sting Sunscreen SPF 30+ Facestick is the best protection available, sunscreen can only provide partial protection against harmful effects of the sun. Limiting sun exposure and wearing protective clothing are even more important when it comes to protecting against skin cancer and premature skin aging. Be extra careful about sun exposure during 10 am and 4 pm since the sun's rays are the most intense during this time of the day. When using sunscreen, make sure you apply it generously 30 minutes before going outside and reapply it often — at least every 2 hours.
Q. What other precautions should I take?
A. Small amounts of UV radiation are beneficial to people and essential in the production of vitamin D. However, excessive exposure to solar UV radiation may result in health effects on the skin, eye and immune system. Apart from the use of MISSION Anti-Sting Sunscreen SPF 30+ Facestick, other protection measures include: stay in the shade, use an umbrella when not involved in activity, wear long-sleeved and loose-fitting clothing, wear a broad brim hat and wear UV blocking sunglasses when possible. It is particularly important to protect babies and young children from the sun.
Q. Is it enough just to stay in the shade?
A. Not enough. Shade can reduce UV by 50% or more. Indoor workers receive 10 to 20% of outdoor workers' yearly UV exposure. However, sand on the beach reflects up to 15% of UV radiation. Some people get burnt while skiing because snow reflects up to 80% of sunburning UV. It’s important to stay on the offense against the suns harmul rays with MISSION Anti-Sting Sunscreen SPF 30+ Facestick.
Q. Will the UV radiation be lower when there are clouds?
A. UV radiation levels are highest under cloudless skies. But even with cloud cover, they can also be high even in the presence of clouds. There have been occasions when broken clouds enhance UV radiation by reflection from their sides.
Q. What else should I take note?
A. Even at half a meter under water, the UV is still 40% as intense as at the surface. Hence the need for water-proof sun protection. UV increases by 4% for every 300 meter rise in altitude. Therefore, people who ski or snowboard should take extra percausion while at higher altitudes. Carry MISSION Daily Offense SPF 30 with you everywhere you go to optimize protection against harmful UV rays.
MISSION Lip Protector SPF 20
Q. What is this product?
A. MISSION Ultra-Hydrating Lip Protector SPF 20 Gel is a lip renewal balm that contains powerful antioxidants and full spectrum sunscreens. Easy to use, it prevents moisture loss while providing UV protection.
Q. Why do I need a lip protector SPF?
A. Lips have little or no melanin, the natural skin pigment that screens out the suns harmful ultraviolet rays. Sun damage can alter collagen (which gives lips body and resilience) can even lead to melanoma. Lips should be protected from the sun with MISSION Ultra-Hydrating Lip Protector SPF 20 Gel. When spending extensive amounts of time outdoors, a lip care product with a higher SPF such as MISSION Ultra-Hydrating Lip Protector SPF 20 Gel should be used. It also is important to remember that the suns harmful rays are ALWAYS present whether it's July or January, sunny or cloudy.
Q. Do my lips need to be protected indoors?
A. It's a good idea to add MISSION Ultra-Hydrating Lip Protector SPF 20 Gel into your daily skin care regimen whether you spend time outdoors or not. Outdoor factors such as sun, wind and cold can speed up the rate of lip moisture loss. What you may not realize is that lips frequently suffer indoors from a lack of moisture in centrally heated or air-conditioned rooms in which the relative humidity is low. Dryness is also the enemy when a winter cold or flu strikes. Lip irritation can even be caused by certain types of food, cosmetics and cigarette smoke.
Q. How often do I need to apply?
A. MISSION Ultra-Hydrating Lip Protector SPF 20 Gel can be used multiple times per day as needed for dry, chapped lips, as a remoisturizer and as defense against harmful UVA/UVB rays.
Q. Why is MISSION Ultra-Hydrating Lip Protector SPF 20 Gel better than the others?
A. MISSION Ultra-Hydrating Lip Protector SPF 20 Gel is far superior to any other lip balm on the market because we have higher concentrations of active ingredients, thus increasing the effectiveness. In addition, we've included vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which will help defend against harmful free-radicals.
MISSION Anti-Friction Cream
Q. How does MISSION High-Performanceoutlast the competition?
A. MISSION High-Performance Anti-Friction has long-lasting properties because it was formulated with traditional polymers and silicone polymers. Polymers are known for their ability to provide adhesion and form a film. The silicone polymers used in MISSION High-Performance Anti-Friction are very elastic and spreads evenly over the skin to form a flexible film that moves with the body and are heat resistant. The more traditional polymers provide additional adherence. Furthermore, the combination of silicone polymers AND traditional provide a breathable barrier that is resistant to wash off due to their water resistant nature. The other popular anti-friction products on the market uses emollients and traditional waxes with melt points around 75 - 85 C and the film formed from the use of these products will not be as long lasting because, during exercise, the body temperature rises and the waxes will have more of a tendency to melt and wash off from sweat.
Q. What do I need High-Performance Anti-Friction for?
A. MISSION High-Performance Anti-Friction Cream provides superior anti-friction benefits to defend against irritation from either skin-to-skin contact or gear/clothing-to-skin contact. The endurance formula limits the need for multiple applications. It’s completely sweat resistant and even moisturizes at the same time. Rashes and Chafing from friction can stop you in your tracks while you’re “on MISSION”…with MISSION High-Performance Anti-Friction Cream, you can keep on going while protecting yourself at the same time.
Q. How do I use it?
A. Simply apply MISSION High-Performance Anti-Friction Cream to any part of your body that has skin-to-skin contact and gear/clothing-to-skin contact. The endurance formula prevents the need for multiple applications, however reapply as needed to prevent irritation. MISSION High-Performance Anti-Friction is ideal for chest, thighs, feet, armpits, groin, back, and any areas that encounter friction.
